Welcome To WingHaven Schoolhouse

Just a quick post to introduce the class offerings planned at The Schoolhouse this coming September through May. These were a long time coming, but you are sure to find them worth the wait!

WingHaven Schoolhouse is located directly behind The Pink Victorian in Mullica Hill.

WingHaven is not so much of a co-op as it is a resource for our family to join with other families who wish to supplement or enrich their childrens' Christian education with group experiences outside the home. Friends working with friends to bring up their children.

Monday Offerings:

9-11 AM Glue and Goo Class, recommended ages 3-7: Messy fun with seasonal projects ranging from tie-dye to papier mache. celebrating creativity with friends while saving Mom's sanity and her kitchen floor.

11:15AM-1:15PM Number Crunchers Class, recommended ages 7-12: Manipulatives, crafts, puzzles, and demonstrations will introduce and reinforce math concepts from addition to decimals. Group dynamics will encourage students of various skill levels to integrate and teach each other through math play and entertaining drill exercises.

1:30PM-3:30PM Map Skills and Geography, recommended ages 7-12: Mapbuilding, orienteering, lapbooks and more will take us for a weekly spin around the globe. We will correspond with new friends in different cultures and enjoy guest speakers at The Schoolhouse.

Friday Offerings:
9-11AM The Book Club, recommended ages 3-7: Think library story hour gone wild! Why just sit and listen to the book? Let's take our favorite award-winning classics and dress up as the characters, whip up a recipe right from the pages, or explore the plot with a challenging scavenger hunt. Follow your imagination as you construct a keepsake lapbook full of your literary adventures.

11:15AM-1:15PM Nature Science Class, recommended ages 4-10: A course through the excellent work text by Susan Mortimer and Betty Smith, "Considering God's Creation". Experiments, demonstrations, and lapbooks. Worktext/lapbook expense of $20 required.

1:30-3:30PM Apologia Zoology Class, recommended ages 6-12: A sequential course following Jeannie Fulbright's two volumes ""Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day" and "Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day" along with their corresponding Notebooking Journals. Text and journal expense required.

Class sizes will be limited. A more detailed syllabus for each class will be posted shortly. The suggested contribution of $8 per child per class will be collected on a monthly basis, the first week of each month. A "Moms' Lounge" for visiting with other mothers during classes will hopefully be prepared in time for the start of this fall's offerings. However, local errand destinations abound!

A registration contribution of $15 per student per course is required to cover material costs and hold the student's space in the class. Please direct further questions and registration invitation requests to heycrystal@comcast.net.
